Controversy over Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’; what happened today

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s movie ‘Emergency’ based  on true events of the Indian history is embroiled in controversy since its trailer launch. The movie was postponed for indefinite period after court’s intervention over the subject.

On Wednesday the producers of the movie approached the Bombay High Court in an attempt to get some relief from the court seeking a censor certificate. The censor board has not issued an essential certificate to the movie due to which it cannot be released.

The petition filed by the producers with the court state that the censor boars was not issuing the certificate deliberately even as it was ready with one. The movie was scheduled to be released on September 6. It hit a wall after some political parties claimed that the movie was misrepresenting the facts.

Kangana has said that an emergency has been imposed on her film.

Kangana is a controversial leader

Member Parliament of BJP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut is a controversial leader due to her comments on different social issues. She was slapped by ITBP personnel at Chandigarh airport few months ago. The ITBP personnel was apparently infuriated over Kangana’s remarks on farmers protest.
