Bollywood actors and actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Alia Bhat, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif are larger than life figures and fans want to know everything about them.
While most of these actresses excluding Disha Patani are married now, there was an obsession by fans to know whom these actresses were dating. Other actresses like Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal Thakur, Kriti Sanon among others have to face the scrutiny by their fans and media leaves no stone unturned to know who these beauties are dating.
This obsession becomes a craze when fans keep on searching for the personal information about these actresses and are fed by fake news websites about the same. The misleading and fake information sometimes becomes a major concern as it can ruing the reputation of a Bollywood star – male or female.
Link-ups and dating rumours about Bollywood actresses are a common feature of the misinformation waves which are run on social media and other platforms. However the obsession to know about the personal lives of the female Bollywood actresses has generated from the fact that these are not shown as an actor on screen but as beauty queens. While most actresses are very talented and are good in acting, there are others who are able to sustain themselves in Bollywood because of their looks.
There were times when Katrina Kaif was also labelled as a ‘doll’ in Bollywood who doesn’t know acting. However with time, Katrina has proved her mettle and is among some of the top actresses in the film industry. Same is the case with Kiara Advani who refined with time and is now one of the most sought after actresses by movie directors.
There is an immediate need for the media and film industry to sensitize general public especially fans that the women stars in the Bollywood are not a commodity who are obliged to make their personal information public. They have a private life which needs to be respected.
